This position involves working within a specialized engineering team supporting manufacturing automation, IT systems integration, project execution, and validation activities in the life sciences sector. The work focuses on designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining advanced process automation systems that improve operational efficiency, manufacturing agility, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Position: Foxboro Automation Engineer
This role is based on a large manufacturing campus in Cork, featuring multiple high‑technology production platforms. The position offers hybrid flexibility, combining on‑site presence with remote work.
The Foxboro Automation Engineer will contribute to automation initiatives across both production and utility operations, including supporting the implementation of Syncade MES functionality for downstream processing. Ideal candidates will have experience with DCS Batch Automation systems and will have worked on commissioning and qualification of automated systems in regulated production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in automation projects within a biopharma process environment
Develop Functional and Detailed Design Specifications
Configure and test automated systems and control logic
Support commissioning, qualification, and system validation activities
Work closely with process, project, and engineering stakeholders
Support project execution in line with schedule milestones and KPIs
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Life Sciences
Minimum of 3+ years of DCS Batch Automation experience with systems such as Foxboro, ABB, or DeltaV
Strong understanding of S88 Batch standards
Experience with API or chemical process manufacturing
Ability to communicate effectively across multiple engineering functions
Working knowledge of GAMP guidelines
