GEDON Executive is partnering with a highly respected Specialist Civils Contractor in their search for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Cork, Ireland. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior professional to take a commercial lead role on a secure pipeline of public sector civil engineering projects across the region.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the full commercial management of large and complex civil contracts. You will be responsible for ensuring that all projects are delivered profitably, on time, and within budget, adhering strictly to contractual and financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
* Commercial Leadership: Lead the commercial function for assigned public sector civils projects, ensuring all financial processes and controls are rigorously implemented.
* Contract Administration: Manage all contractual aspects, including providing expert interpretation and administration of Public Works Contracts (GCCC) and other relevant forms (e.g., FIDIC, NEC).
* Financial Control & Reporting: Prepare, manage, and present detailed project budgets, forecasts, and accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) to senior management.
* Valuations & Claims: Prepare, submit, and negotiate complex interim valuations and payment applications. Proactively manage all contractual claims and variations to secure full entitlement.
* Subcontractor Management: Oversee the procurement, contract negotiation, and commercial management of specialist subcontractors and suppliers.
* Risk Mitigation: Systematically identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks inherent in civil engineering and public sector works.
What You'll Bring
* Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a Civils or Main Contractor environment in Ireland.
* Sector Expertise: Essential experience in managing Public Sector Contracts, particularly the GCCC forms, and direct experience on civil engineering, infrastructure, or groundworks projects.
* Commercial Acumen: Exceptional financial management and analytical skills, with a proven ability to drive project profitability and control costs from first principles.
* Contractual Knowledge: Expert working knowledge and practical experience administering Irish public works contracts (GCCC)..
* Communication & Leadership: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of managing commercial relationships with clients (Local Authorities, Government bodies) and the site team.
* Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
