Financial Accountant
Overview
With a strong footprint in Sales, Parts, and Service operations in the construction and industrial sector. We're looking for a Financial Accountant to join a growing finance team. Ideally you will be a driven and detail-oriented qualified accountant who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. You enjoy collaborating across departments and take pride in producing accurate and insightful financial work. As a Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in the smooth running of the finance function. Your work will be integral to ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
8. Assist with monthly management accounts including journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
9. Manage month-end close procedures, ensuring deadlines are met
10. Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Register, Bank accounts (GBP & Euro), and VAT returns
11. Prepare and submit bi-monthly/annual VAT, VIES, Intrastat, and CSO reports through ROS
12. Support credit control and accounts payable; provide cover during annual leave periods
13. Oversee supplier payment runs and ensure accurate invoice coding and expense claim approvals
14. Review weekly payroll reports,
15. process wages on Sage Payroll, and ensure timely Revenue submissions – Holiday cover
16. Maintain and update company vehicle and insurance registers, including BIK reviews
17. Assist in the preparation of the annual audit file and insurance renewals
18. Perform ad hoc accounting tasks and contribute to continuous process improvement
Requirements
19. Qualified Accountant (ACA, FCA, ACCA, or CIMA)
20. 1–3 years post-qualification experience in a commercial or accounting environment
21. Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting systems (Sage Payroll experience a plus)
22. Strong understanding of payroll, VAT, and bank reconciliation processes
23. Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
24. A self-starter with high attention to detail, strong organisation, and problem-solving ability
25. Reliable, proactive, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
