Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) are currently recruiting for an Aircraft Mechanic to support our aircraft engineering department based at Cork Airport, Ireland. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a mechanical background and experience to join a dynamic team and transition or continue in the fascinating world of aviationAFTA operate a large fleet of Cessna 172, Diamond DA42, Vulcanair P68 & Slingsby aircraft training domestic and international cadets for some of the world's largest airlines and using the Vulcanair P68 aircraft to support our aerial survey division. The successful candidate will be part of the team that maintains this fleet, liaising with our flight operations team to carry out routine 100hr, 200hr checks, scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance, annual checks and defect rectification.The ideal candidate will be an ambitious and driven individual, with a keen interest in aviation, who dreams of expanding their transferable mechanical skills within the general aviation industry. The opportunity to progress to certified EASA Aircraft Engineer will be offered to individuals that show the right attitude and ambition to progress.ResponsibilitiesRepair, inspect and maintain the structural, mechanical and electronic elements of the aircraft, measuring wear and assessing whether parts need repair or replacement.Perform aircraft maintenance (scheduled and non-scheduled) in accordance with technical documentation and company procedures.Conduct routine and special inspections as required by regulations.Clean, refuel, and change oil in line service aircraft.Complete all relevant paperwork and administration duties as requiredCommunicate & co-operate with the Chief Engineer and the rest of the engineering team in a safe, professional and helpful manner.Support the engineering team with the delivery and management of parts, stock and fuel.Successful candidate requirementsMinimum of 2 years' experience as an aircraft mechanic with light aircraft experience.Must be willing to learn, reliable and flexible and is by nature, detail oriented.Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Software ProgramsAbility to hold airport restricted zone access.Sound technical knowledgeGood EnglishCandidates will ideally have the right to live and work within the EU however we will sponsor an EU work permit for the right candidate.Flexibility to complete tasks outside of normal working hours to ensure program deadlines are met.
