A public sector client, represented by Unijobs, requires a Training and Testing Support Officer for the new Patient Administration System (PAS) Upgrade Project. The role reports to the PAS Project Manager/Test Lead and is a temporary position, fully onsite in Dublin 8. The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week as an agency employee, with a salary ranging from €35,609 – €54,914 p.a. (based on public sector experience) and will receive 28 days annual leave plus paid bank holidays.
Purpose of the Role
The Training and Testing Support Officer will play a frontline role in testing, training, and supporting the successful implementation of the new PAS. The post holder will ensure the system is safe, effective, user‑friendly, and fully adopted across clinical and administrative services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
System Testing & Validation
* Work with third‑party providers, analysts and workstream/customer support teams to ensure software solutions meet user expectations.
* Review documented test cases.
* Execute comprehensive testing against the software, ensuring all features function as designed.
* Perform root‑cause analysis of defects to identify and mitigate project risks.
* Communicate the results of software testing to stakeholders and suggest areas of improvement.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methodologies and, if necessary, develop SOPs.
Specific Tasks
* Participation in system testing, integration testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
* Execution of test scripts and accurate documentation of results.
* Log system defects, workflow issues and configuration problems.
* Retest fixes and confirm resolution.
* Handle admissions and emergency department flows.
Training Development & Delivery
* Deliver classroom, virtual, and one‑to‑one PAS training to clerical, nursing, and medical staff.
* Create training materials, quick reference guides and eLearning content.
* Maintain accurate training attendance records.
* Provide post‑training support and follow‑up.
Clinical & Operational Engagement
* Work closely with admissions, bed management, emergency department, wards and theatres.
* Assist in mapping booking processes and clinic templates.
* Respond to real‑time PAS issues and user queries.
* Escalate system incidents appropriately.
* Support post go‑live review and system optimisation.
* Act as a key liaison between frontline users and the project team.
Governance, Clinical Safety & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with GDPR & Data Protection, ICT & cybersecurity policies.
* Participate in audits and quality assurance processes.
General Digital & Administrative Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate training records and support reporting to PAS Programme Governance Groups.
* Maintain structured electronic records via Teams / SharePoint.
Academic/Professional Qualifications and/or Relevant Experience
Required:
* Obtained at least Grade D (or a pass) in five subjects (including Mathematics and English or Irish) from the approved Leaving Certificate list.
* Obtained at least Grade C (or honours) in higher level papers in three subjects (or two if applicable).
* Alternatively, a comparable standard in any equivalent examination.
* Alternatively, a third level qualification of at least degree standard (QQI level 7).
* Alternatively, a minimum of 1 year of satisfactory clerical experience (ideally within patient or customer service), demonstrating equivalent skills for the role.
* Possess sufficient administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the grade.
* Must have achieved required Leaving Certificate grades on the Established or Vocational programme (Applied does not qualify).
* Previous clerical experience in a Hospital / Healthcare environment preferred (e.g., General Hospital Administration, Medical Secretary, Medical Audio‑typing).
* Completion or progression towards a course related to Medical Secretary or Hospital Administration.
For each required competency below, provide examples of your current level of knowledge, skill, and/or experience.
* Excellent keyboard skills.
* Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel) and E‑mail.
* Prior experience in PAS or EPR projects / Hospital digital transformation / large‑scale system go‑live events.
This position may be subject to Garda Vetting and Foreign Police Clearance; you will be required to obtain these prior to commencing.
