Building Engineer - Mechanical

About The Role
As a CBRE Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring complex building system operations, including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling. This role is part of our Engineering and Technical Services function, providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
* Assign work orders, estimate time and materials, and maintain an inventory of supplies and tools.
* Perform maintenance and repairs on advanced mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life‑safety, and control systems.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and company safety directives.
* Develop and implement an energy‑management program to keep systems operating efficiently.
* Oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors; respond to client, co‑worker, and supervisor inquiries or complaints.
* Direct a preventive maintenance program to ensure machinery and systems meet or exceed rated life and perform emergency maintenance as needed.
* Review and sign off on inspections of building systems (e.g., fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to guarantee operation within design capabilities.
* Apply advanced knowledge to develop and implement innovative methods for both individual and departmental objectives.
* Showcase expertise in your discipline and deep knowledge of other disciplines within the organization.
* Coach and develop others’ knowledge and expertise across the function.
* Lead by example, model CBRE RISE values, and influence stakeholders at senior levels.
* Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi‑discipline teams.
* Contribute to new products, processes, standards, or operational plans that support functional goals.
* Communicate complex ideas effectively and influence decision making.
Qualifications
* Mechanical trade qualification with at least 2 years of related experience.
* Additional certification in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC & refrigeration, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair.
* Meet physical requirements: stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry loads of 50 lbs. or more.
* Innovative mentality and ability to develop solutions beyond existing approaches.
* Strong problem‐solving skills, applying standard and innovative solutions with broad impact.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Advanced organizational skills and an inquisitive mindset.
* Highly sophisticated math skills, able to calculate complex figures such as percentages and fractions.
