Injection Moulding Process Technician
Provides technical expertise and leadership in production and processing methods to ensure quality standards are met efficiently for both existing and new moulding processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the safe start-up, monitoring, and shutdown of injection moulding processes, ensuring production targets for yield, scrap, material cost, and customer volume are consistently achieved.
* Act as the primary escalation point for process-related issues, using a structured root cause analysis approach to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
* Optimize tool setup and changeover procedures to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency in achieving production goals.
* Assist process engineers in developing and validating new processes, including proof-of-concept trials and production readiness for prototype and existing tools.
* Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required production documentation by operations staff within the injection moulding area.
* Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by applying lean manufacturing and ‘decoupled’ process techniques to enhance performance and reliability.
* Ensure effective personnel allocation based on shift planning provided by Team Leaders or Shift Managers.
* Maintain production area updates, lead shift handovers, and manage operational documentation, stepping into Team Leader/Shift Manager duties as needed.
* Collaborate with quality teams to resolve issues quickly and uphold product standards.
* Promote and adhere to all EHS and cGMP requirements, leading initiatives such as safety walks, 5S, and compliance audits.
* Support the creation and revision of SOPs, training materials, and work instructions for the injection moulding team.
* Facilitate cross-training initiatives to ensure broad skill coverage across all programmes and moulding operations.
* Uphold all company safety and quality policies, ensuring full GMP compliance in all processes and records.
* Perform additional duties as required, based on evolving departmental and business needs.
Requirements:
* Level 6 (or higher) in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering preferred.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in injection moulding, ideally within a healthcare or high-volume automated environment.
* Skilled in mould setup and experienced with a wide range of plastics and tooling types.
* Additional formal process technician training is an advantage.
Skills & Attributes:
* Strong mechanical aptitude and process understanding.
* Able to operate injection moulding equipment and complete accurate documentation independently.
* Willing to work shift patterns as required
* Proficient in IT systems and effective in communication and teamwork.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively.
