Overview
The Senior Finance Business Partner will be responsible for the commercial finance and business partnering activities across multiple business divisions. The role involves driving strategic capital allocation and financial performance, partnering with senior leadership to lead budgeting, forecasting, investment governance, and cost efficiency programs. Lead a high-performing team to deliver commercial insights and financial control, while enhancing business accountability and process excellence.
You will be responsible for performance monitoring, reviewing business cases and requests for capital investment, supporting the business in obtaining budget for purchasing and initiating efficiency programs to improve cost intensity. You will be a key financial business partner to the Directors and Senior Managers within the group. Together with the other SFBPs & FBPs this role forms the Ireland Capital Allocation & Business Control team led by the Deputy CFO. This team works collaboratively with other finance functions including the head office Shared Services Centre to ensure that finance processes and ways of working are adhered to and operating effectively.
The role requires someone who is highly organised, has strong attention to detail, is naturally inquisitive and has a proactive approach to improving processes and developing new ways of reporting.
Responsibilities
* Leading a team of finance business partners and grads to drive performance and deliver Finance priorities across a number of business divisions
* Work closely with, and influence, senior management to help drive business performance – helping to ensure high-quality financial decisions are made
* Provide objective financial advice and opinions that positively impact future business decisions
* Identify and drive financial efficiency with Wholesale & Shared Services leadership teams, ensuring resources are allocated effectively with a focus on cost control and value-for-money
* Provide objective challenge regarding spend plans and proactively seek opportunities to deliver services more efficiently
* Investigate opportunities and address high-risk and material financial issues with the business
* Support the business in increasing financial accountability by coaching and training to improve financial confidence and competence across the Commercial Leadership team
* Ensure Capital Allocation framework is applied efficiently and enhanced according to business requirements for the group
* Monitor financial performance to achieve financial objectives
* Monthly performance reviews with Deputy CFO, VPs and CFO
* Oversee and facilitate annual planning processes for multiyear strategic plans, budgets and monthly forecasts
* Lead the Wholesale & Shared Services monthly processes, including KPIs and P&L for Senior Leadership and CFO review
* Prepare the Annual Budget and materials for CEO sign-off with attention to numerical precision and business drivers
* Oversee Capital Investment governance processes and controls (CER, project controls)
* Lead the review of business cases and assist in obtaining budget for high-return investment opportunities for Wholesale & Shared Services divisions
* Ensure adherence to relevant guidelines (US GAAP, Purchasing Policy, etc.)
Skills & Expertise
* Qualified accountant, ideally from a Big 4 firm
* 2-3 Years PQE
* Experience in a previous business partner role
* Advanced financial modelling skills
* Ability to analyse trends to understand key drivers and their impact historically and in the future
* Ability to translate complex finance analysis into layman terms for business communication
* Prior experience leading finance professionals
