However, we do this differently, instead of using conventional crewed survey ships, we have developed our own Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) capable of performing the same surveys with a fraction of the environmental impact.OverviewWe are seeking aAWS Cloud Data Engineerto support our growing data operations, working with large datasets from uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). This is a full-time, office-based role at our Dundalk Operations Centre, where you'll collaborate closely with colleagues across data, software, and operations.This role combines AWS expertise, strong data engineering skills, and a passion for automation and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will design, build, and optimise data infrastructure and workflows that enable XOCEAN's global data operations.Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesArchitect & Design: Develop secure, scalable, and cost-optimized cloud architectures using AWS services aligned with business and technical requirements.Data Engineering: Design and maintain efficient data pipelines and processing workflows using Python and AWS data services.Support & Troubleshooting: Act as the escalation point for complex AWS infrastructure issues, providing root-cause analysis and remediation.Monitoring & Optimisation: Continuously monitor system and pipeline performance, implementing best practices for cost management, availability, and disaster recovery.Security & Compliance: Ensure solutions comply with security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC2) and AWS Well-Architected Framework.Collaboration: Partner with development, DevOps, and IT teams to support application deployments and resolve infrastructure challenges.Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive system documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.Innovation: Stay current with AWS innovations and recommend new technologies to improve system performance and reliability.Requirements: Essential Skills / Attributes and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).2-5 years of experience managing and supporting AWS cloud environments.In-depth knowledge of AWS services such as FSx, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, and VPC.Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (CloudFormation, Terraform).Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.Experience in agile project management is a plus.ApplyApplicants must demonstrate how they meet the essential criteria.
