I’m working with a well-established, family-led organisation in the construction/building materials sector who are hiring a Group HR Manager as part of an exciting growth phase.
This is a brand new role, created to bring structure and leadership to HR as the business scales from approx. 75 employees today to c.130 over the next 12 months.
This role will suit someone who enjoys being close to the business, building strong relationships across operational teams and leadership, and bringing practical, hands‑on HR support in a fast‑moving environment. This role will be based fully onsite.
The Role
Reporting directly into senior leadership, you will act as the primary HR lead across the group, supporting multiple sites and a largely operational workforce.
Key focus areas will include:
Leading day‑to‑day HR operations across the business
Managing employee relations and providing practical HR guidance
Supporting recruitment aligned with growth plans
Bringing structure to HR policies, processes and compliance
Supporting payroll process improvements
Driving training & development initiatives
Building a more consistent, proactive HR framework
This is initially a highly operational, hands‑on role, with scope to evolve strategically as the business continues to grow.
Requirements
Approx. 10+ years HR experience
Strong operational generalist background
Confident working as a sole HR lead
Comfortable engaging directly with senior leadershipPractical, down‑to‑earth and solutions focussed
Experience within an SME or family‑led business environment would be ideal
(Industry experience in construction / manufacturing is beneficial but not essential — personality and fit are key.)
