AtkinsRéalis is a leading provider of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland. We are seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to be based in our Galway office. The successful candidate will work in a civil engineering team within a multidisciplinary office and shall work on varied projects across Education, Residential, Healthcare, Industrial, Commercial and Energy Sectors for both public and private clients. The civil engineering team designs the foul, surface water and watermain layouts and manages all civil engineering aspects from inception to completion, with input from the Highways and Traffic team when required.The candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, flexible, willing to take responsibility and comfortable working as part of a team.ResponsibilitiesActing as a Lead Civil Engineer as part of Multidisciplinary Design Teams.Design input and oversight of the delivery of all Civil aspects of projects with a focus on drainage and watermain design and a good knowledge of basic road design principles.Preparation of project reports (Planning, Tender, Construction Stage) with the ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly.Communication of design intent via PowerPoint presentations.Preparation of fee proposals and site specific quality response submissions for design contracts with public sector clients.Communication with internal and external parties via email.Oversight of preparation of design drawings for planning, tender and construction purposes.Preparation of design calculations for internal and external review.Undertaking duties of Ancillary Certifier for the Civil engineering discipline on building projects (external works, drainage, watermain, etc.).Financial management of design budgets.Supervising and mentoring other civil engineers who will report into the successful candidate.Manage personal workload and the workload of a small team of civil engineers who will report into the candidate.Desirable Skills/AttributesChartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland or equivalent (MRA considerations apply for overseas Charterships).Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively.Experience in delivery of drainage design in Causeway or Micro-drainage.Proficient in MS Office Suite.Experience in use of AutoTrack software.Experience acting as Lead Project Civil Engineer on multi-disciplinary projects (client meetings, coordination with design teams, etc.).About UsAt AtkinsRéalis we put Environment, Sustainability and Health & Safety at the heart of our business strategy.
