About the Role
MMD Construction is seeking a Foreman (Groundworks) to supervise and coordinate all groundworks and civil elements on site in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and Irish construction standards.
The successful candidate will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise all groundworks activities, including site clearance, excavation, drainage, ducting, kerbing, paving, service installation, foundations, and concrete works.
Interpret and implement construction drawings and ensure works are carried out to design and specification.
Ensure full compliance with Building Regulations and BC(A)R.
Plan and coordinate labour, plant, and materials to meet project deadlines and programme requirements.
Work closely with the Site Engineer to ensure accuracy in levels, setting-out, and line and grade control.
Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and quality, ensuring works are completed to specification.
Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and direct labour, ensuring productivity and safety.
Liaise with the wider project team regarding materials, deliveries, and resource requirements.
Maintain accurate daily records of labour, plant, materials, and progress.
Ensure adherence to Health & Safety procedures.
Support the Quality Control process, ensuring inspections and test records are completed as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory capacity on groundworks or civil engineering projects.
Strong understanding of drainage systems, concrete works, road construction, and service installations.
Proven ability to manage direct labour and subcontractor teams effectively.
Ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings, specifications, and method statements.
Solid knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and Construction Regulations ****.
Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
