JOB DETAILS
Base Pay: $18.50 per hour, plus $0.30 differential pay
Shift: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm - Monday - Friday (OT and some Saturday work may be required)
Duties and Responsibilities
The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts.
* Understand and follow safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment.
* Set up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
* Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
* Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality.
* Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
* Mark part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts. Attach identification tags as required for customer to locate correct parts.
* Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
* Maintain continuous improvement practices in work area.
* Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
* Utilize scanning equipment.
* Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems.
* Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules.
* Be a team player and prioritize safety.
* May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader.
* Willing/able to work overtime.
Qualifications
* High School Graduate or General Education Degree.
* 3+ years of experience in fabrication/manufacturing is preferred.
* Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely.
* High attention to detail to consistently produce quality products.
* Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
* Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds and more with assistance.
* Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, and near acuity.
