We are expanding our administrative team and seeking a professional and organised
Practice Secretary
to support our Practice Manager and clinical team.
The Role
As a
Practice Secretary
, you will be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the practice.
This is a full-time position (Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm) with responsibilities including:
Greeting patients and handling phone/email queries.
Booking and managing appointments through practice management software.
Maintaining accurate and GDPR-compliant patient records.
Processing prescriptions, medical certificates, and referrals.
Managing billing systems, patient payments, and financial records.
Supporting clinical staff with correspondence, test results, and reporting.
Filing, scanning, coding hospital letters, and managing recall systems.
Preparing consulting rooms and maintaining stock of forms and supplies.
Assisting with audits, HSE returns, and practice accreditation processes.
Supporting practice events, staff training, and meetings.
Covering for absent colleagues when required.

What We're Looking For
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Professional, courteous manner with patients and colleagues.
Computer literacy, with experience using practice/medical IT systems an advantage.
Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team.
Previous medical administration experience desirable, but full training will be provided.
Commitment to confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
Experience with Socrates preferable but not mandatory.
Terms & Benefits
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Mon–Fri, 9am–6pm, 1-hour lunch break).
Overtime paid at hourly rate when required.
Annual leave in line with the Organisation of Working Time Act **** plus
two discretionary days
(employee's birthday + spouse/partner's birthday or chosen day).
