Global Field Operations Field Engineer, EMEA GFO Eng TeamEMEA GFO is seeking a passionate, results-oriented engineer to drive operational excellence in its colocation-based data center operations.
This position serves as a technical resource to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) within its geographically distributed Global Field Operations.
The role focuses on ensuring high availability and reliability to meet or exceed service level expectations.
The Global Field Engineer will collaborate with Business Development on site qualification and selection, oversee the operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment across multiple colocation data centers, and identify projects to maintain high reliability while minimizing operating costs.
The engineer will also drive innovation with colocation facilities to reduce operational costs and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership.
This role is the front-line technical expert for electrical and mechanical equipment operations and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities include working with colo providers and Business Development to maintain mission-critical facilities, including diesel generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, batteries, CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, and motors.
Note: Up to 60% travel within the EMEA region is required.
AWS Infrastructure Services manages the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure, supporting all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment.
The team works on complex challenges to ensure continuous service and supports a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, fostering an inclusive culture that encourages innovation and ownership.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesSupervise, advise, and collaborate with colocation operators during servicing or preventive maintenance.Assist in root cause analysis for operational issues.Perform periodic on-site reviews and audits of operations, electrical, and mechanical systems.Supervise the design and implementation of retrofits for existing facilities.Qualify new sites for deployment.Drive operational excellence across all data center sites.Perform first-level troubleshooting for facility and rack-level events.Approve all Change Management Tasks (CMTs) for site changes and maintenance.Attend weekly meetings with TPMs and CAD designers, and assist in designing and retrofitting cages within EMEA edge space.About the TeamAt AWS, we value diverse experiences and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply, even if they do not meet all preferred qualifications.
