Role / Department
As part of the Custody Tax Operations team, the Tax Analyst sits at the center of international withholding tax processing.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the role is responsible for recording and managing Northern Trust's client tax documentation, identifying, processing, and tracking opportunities for reducing withholding tax on behalf of our global client base.
The position requires quick, professional, and accurate responses to inquiries, with a continual focus on improving client service.
Key Responsibilities
Take on assigned tasks from the Team Leader and senior members of the team.
Process, scan, record, distribute, and file large volumes of documentation received daily.
Ensure information and documentation enable maximum tax benefits for Northern Trust's global client base.
Escalate issues in a timely manner and work closely with relevant contacts to provide the best possible service.
Adhere to all service level agreements in place.
Support the team in meeting and exceeding client expectations and requirements.
Build effective relationships with team members and other teams by demonstrating a strong willingness to assist others.
Review processes to identify areas for automation or improved workflow.
Prepare and file withholding tax (WHT) reclaims.
Skills / Qualifications
Strong educational background – Business, Tax, or a related qualification.
Excellent communication skills and client-servicing capabilities.
Ability to navigate obstacles, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
Resilience to pressure and flexibility to adapt quickly.
High attention to accuracy and detail.
Numerical competence with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Proficient in core IT tools including Adobe, Excel, MS Office, and Word.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
