Offer description

Are you looking for a supportive team, career development and a great work-life balance?

We are looking for an enthusiastic RVN to join our teamat our newly refurbished clinic in Sandyford, South Dublin.

About Village Vets

It all started back in 1980 when vet Karl Cosgrave bought the practice in Dunshaughlin. Following in their father's footsteps, both of Karl's children chose careers in veterinary medicine, and in 2003, Karl passed the reins to his son, Charles. Fast forward to today, and our family practice has grown to include 20 state-of-the-art clinics across Dublin, Cork, Meath, and Wicklow, with an exceptional team of nearly 300 people. We've come a long way, but one thing has always remained the same: our belief that if we want the best care for our patients, we must provide the best care for our team.

Our mission is to make lives better through excellence in veterinary care. We are committed to continually improving our services through innovation, utilising the latest monitoring and diagnostic technology, and fostering a supportive work environment where our team can thrive both personally and professionally.

We offer certificate-led internal referral services, with highly skilled vets and nurses specialising in various fields, including exotics, orthopaedics, cardiology, dentistry, oncology, medicine, advanced soft tissue surgery, and endoscopy, with dermatology services launching soon.

The Future

We were pioneers in introducing dental X-rays as a standard practice in Ireland. We continue leading the way with exciting advancements, including launching laparoscopy services in January, new CT machines arriving in March and August and opening our first Diplomat-led Tertiary Referral Hospital in August.

Additionally, we are expanding nationwide, with two new clinics in Cork joining our growing network. We have Dublin’s only dedicated cat-only clinic, complemented by two additional clinics that have achieved ISFM Cat-Friendly status, with more certifications planned for 2025.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced RVN to join our Sandyford clinic. We want you to reach your full potential and have job satisfaction, so you will be encouraged to use all your skills and get involved in all aspects of nursing, from inpatient care, radiography, and anaesthesia to our extensive nurse clinics.

You will have access to our dedicated nurse mentors within the wider Village Vets team, who can provide ongoing support and guidance to help you develop your skills. We also offer the opportunity to progress into one of our speciality nurse positions in areas such as orthopaedics, dentistry, dermatology, cardiology, feline care, and exotics, as well as hospital and head nurse positions.

Our nurses work a 40-hour week, with just 1:4 Saturdays (9 am – 5 pm) and 1:12 daytime weekends. There are no out-of-hours or on-call duties.

Career Development

We are passionate about nurturing our teams and helping each team member achieve their ambitions through enhancing their knowledge, developing skills, pursuing further training, including certificates, or finding an ideal work-life balance.

Village Vets was the first independent practice in Ireland to launch both a Head Nurse training program and a New Graduate program, ensuring that less experienced team members receive unparalleled support and encouragement. We also provide a comprehensive in-house CPD program, certificate training, and opportunities for further education to ensure every team member has the tools to excel.

Culture and Well-Being

We believe a positive team culture is essential, and that’s why we prioritise everyone’s mental health and well-being through various initiatives, including providing quarterly social budgets for each clinic to fund fun activities outside of work. The whole team gathers together to celebrate the big occasions, such as our Christmas party, where we enjoy a festive evening of dinner, drinks, and dancing at a local hotel, complete with a band and DJ.

The local area

Sandyford is a vibrant suburb in South Dublin with lots to offer, including the weekly Carmanhall Road Food Market and numerous restaurants, pubs, and shops, such as the Beacon South Quartershopping centre. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are plenty of green spaces to explore, including Marlay Park and the Dublin Mountains. There are good public transport links to the city centre and easy access to Dublin Airport and further afield via the M50.

We offer:

* A salary of €30,000 - €38,000
* CPD encouraged, with certificates supported and funded, including additional days if needed
* In-house training
* 5.6 weeks holiday, including bank holidays
* Holiday increases with length of service
