Automation Technician We are currently seeking an Automation Technician to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of Industrial Automation, Telemetry and SCADA Software solutions to new and existing Water and Wastewater treatment facilities. Location Based out of HQ, Tipperary with project sites primarily across Ireland. Type Permanent, Full-Time Role Purpose The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years' experience in an automation, controls or EICA role within the industrial, water & wastewater sector. You will work as part of the automation team on the design, programming, commissioning and support of PLC, SCADA and telemetry systems, promoting digital communications via Profinet IO, OPC UA & MQTT. Key Responsibilities Assist in the design and delivery of control and automation solutions for Water and Wastewater projects Programming and configuration of PLC/HMI control systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, ABB, Schneider or similar) Design, configuration and commissioning of SCADA systems on new and existing treatment facilities Design, configuration and commissioning of Telemetry systems including remote I/O and communications infrastructure Implementation and troubleshooting of digital communications protocols including Profinet IO, OPC UA & MQTT FAT and SAT testing of control panels and automation systems, including I/O verification and control function testing Preparation of project documentation including Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Operation & Maintenance Manuals (OMMs) Responsible for systems, software and electrical drawings relevant to automation scope Fault finding and resolution of control system issues across PLC, SCADA, telemetry and field instrumentation Loop checking and signal verification from field instruments through to PLCs and SCADA Provide technical support to existing customers and liaise with clients, Project Managers and Area Supervisors Liaise with system vendors to source and implement automated solutions Work on own initiative on smaller projects and as part of a team on larger projects Completion of daily reports, commissioning records and health and safety documentation as required Candidate Requirements A minimum of 2 years' experience in an automation, controls or EICA role, ideally within the water or wastewater sector Degree or Level 7/8 qualification in Electrical, Automation & Control Engineering, or equivalent trade qualification with proven automation experience PLC programming experience on platforms such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, ABB, Schneider or Omron SCADA experience with platforms such as ICONICS, Wonderware, WinCC or similar Strong understanding of industrial control systems, telemetry and digital communication protocols (Profinet IO, OPC UA, MQTT) Previous experience in a technical/hands-on role working with electrical and instrumentation equipment Ability to follow control panel schematics, P&IDs and troubleshoot control panel and instrumentation faults Knowledge of object-oriented programming would be an advantage Excellent communication skills, written and oral must be highly proficient in spoken and written English Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills Ability to demonstrate a professional and positive approach to work with strong customer relationship management skills Full, clean driving licence What We Offer Competitive salary and career progression opportunities Company Vehicle and work mobile phone Company pension scheme to support your long-term financial wellbeing Comprehensive employee healthcare insurance A supportive and collaborative team
