Meet the team
As Ireland’s national public service media organisation RTÉ News and Current Affairs provides independent and trusted news and current affairs content across multiple platforms. We have a vacancy for a Maor Craolta (Graificí) in Nuacht RTÉ / TG4. A panel will also be created from which future vacancies that might arise over the next twenty‑four‑month period, or temporary gaps in the roster, may be filled.
Based in TG4, Baile na hAbhann, the Maor Craolta is a key part of the multi-skilled production team which facilitates the output and broadcast of news bulletins and current affairs programming for TG4 and for RTÉ.
About the Maor Craolta (Graificí) role
* Operates the studio automation system for the transmission of all Nuacht output (controls the vision‑mixing desk, cameras, graphic system, video playout and audio controls) and combines them to create output.
* High‑end editor – sources and distributes media content to end‑users, supervises and edits content, and provides live playout in a backup role.
* Creates day‑to‑day graphic content for digital and linear output, using a variety of leading industry tools, and develops templated material for the newsroom graphics system.
* Manual operation of the newsroom graphics system, sourcing and distribution of content to end‑users.
* Serves in a stand‑in News Director role to fill gaps in rosters as they arise.
* Performs two of the production functions described above but will be rostered for only one of them each day.
Training for the successful candidate will be provided as required for the person appointed, and for the panellists.
About You
* Relevant experience in a live broadcasting environment.
* Understanding of the production systems in a television and multi‑platform newsroom.
* Member of a creative team who will contribute to the development of output.
* Drive and enthusiasm to work accurately and under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Can work on own initiative and work well with others.
* Can develop new workflows and troubleshoot problems.
* Can work in an environment where Irish is the working language.
* Has an understanding of the workings of a news division.
* Has an interest in news and current affairs.

This appointment will be made at the Media Content Supervisor grade and is being offered on an ongoing full‑time contract basis. The salary scale for this role is €50,800 to €71,353 gross per annum.
