Since our foundation in 1973 we have provided over 5,700 homes through homeownership, shared ownership and social rented co-operatives. As an Approved Housing Body (AHB), we work with various stakeholders in the housing sector, including Local Authorities, Government, aspiring homeowners, tenants and developers. We currently manage over 6,708 properties across Ireland.ROLE OVERVIEWWe are currently seeking a General Operative to join our team based in our Limerick office, with regular travel throughout the Munster and Connacht regions. This is a hands-on role supporting the upkeep, maintenance, and presentation of our housing stock.WHAT YOU WILL DOCarrying out general maintenance and minor repair works across residential properties and common areasSupporting responsive and planned maintenance programmes in line with organisational prioritiesPreparing void properties for re-letting, including basic repairs, snagging, and presentation worksAssisting with inspections of properties and reporting defects or follow-up works requiredUndertaking basic works across multiple trades such as painting, carpentry, minor plumbing, and general repairsEnsuring all works are completed in compliance with health and safety legislation and organisational proceduresUsing tools, equipment, and materials safely and responsiblyLiaising with CHI staff, contractors, and tenants in a professional mannerSupporting contractors on-site where required and assisting with access to propertiesRecording details of works completed, materials used, and time spent for reporting and audit purposesIdentifying recurring maintenance issues and escalating these to line managementMaintaining vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working orderTravelling between sites across Munster and Connacht as requiredProviding cover or assistance to other teams during peak periods or as operational needs arise.WHAT YOU WLL BRINGEssential Requirements:Proven experience in a general maintenance, caretaking, or operative role.Good practical skills across basic trades (e.g. carpentry, painting, minor plumbing).Full clean driving licence.Willingness to travel throughout Munster and Connacht.Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.A commitment to high standards and tenant-focused service.Experience of delivering face to face customer service.Desirable Requirements:Experience working within housing, local authority, or AHB environments.Knowledge of health & safety requirements.Safe Pass (or willingness to obtain).WHAT WE OFFERCompetitive Salary Bands22 Days Annual Leave + 3 Company Privilege DaysAnnual leave increase to 30 days linked to length of serviceGenerous Company Pension Contributions (up to 12% employer contribution)Income ProtectionPaid Sick leave SchemeEducational Assistance ProgramPaid Study & Exam LeaveEmployee Assistance Program (EAP Scheme)Life Cover/Death in ServicePaid Professional SubscriptionFree Annual Colleague Health ScreeningSELECTION PROCESSPlease note that interviews for this position may take place anytime from the launch date until a successful candidate is found.How to Apply: Interested applicants should submit a CV and Cover Letter.
