Safety Officer - TipperaryOur client, a well-established family-run construction company in Tipperary, is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to support ongoing projects across the region. This is a hands-on role within a close-knit team, offering the opportunity to shape and continuously improve safety standards across a variety of construction activities.We are looking for someone who brings strong knowledge of the Irish construction industry, understands the realities of working on active sites, and can foster a positive safety culture through practical guidance and relationship-building. Experience and familiarity with construction machinery is highly desirable.ResponsibilitiesImplement, monitor, and continuously improve site safety policies and procedures in line with Irish construction regulations.Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including Safety Statements, Method Statements, and RAMS.Provide toolbox talks, safety training, and daily briefings for site personnel.Investigate and report on incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, identifying corrective actions.Maintain detailed documentation of inspections, training, and safety performance.Work closely with site management to ensure safe planning and execution of works.Support safe operation of construction machinery and equipment; advise on machinery-related risks (experience preferred but training can be provided).Liaise with external stakeholders including subcontractors, clients, and regulatory bodies where required.Promote a proactive safety culture across the workforce.RequirementsEssential: Proven experience as a Safety Officer within the Irish construction industry.Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and relevant regulations.Advantageous: Familiarity with construction machinery, plant operations, or equipment safety.Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, Level 6 H&S qualification, or equivalent).Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with site teams, management, and subcontractors.Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.Full, clean driving licence.What's on OfferCompany vehicleOpportunity to join a respected, family-run business with a strong local reputation.Supportive working environment where your input genuinely matters.Competitive salary based on experience.Long-term, stable role with real scope for progression and professional development.
