Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Automation Engineer
to join a highly automated biopharma manufacturing facility in South Dublin.
The site houses state-of-the-art pilot plants, laboratories, and advanced production equipment for the development and manufacture of complex biological medicines.
As part of the
New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering Team
, you will contribute to delivering critical automation solutions that support the introduction of new products and technologies into a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Automation Lead, the Automation Engineer will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting automation systems as part of NPI projects.
The role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to translate process requirements into automation solutions, driving compliance, and ensuring the successful delivery of new processes to the facility.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with process SMEs, CQV leads, and automation colleagues to capture and translate process requirements into functional design specifications.
Provide technical input and review of functional design elements, ensuring compliance with site and industry standards.
Implement automation changes through ACPs (Automation Change Packs) and perform necessary code modifications.
Support project reviews with internal stakeholders and provide clear updates on progress and challenges.
Assist in commissioning and qualification activities for automation systems as part of NPI delivery.
Ensure compliance with change management, automation lifecycle practices, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Must-Have:
Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Chemical Engineering, or related field with significant relevant experience.
5+ years' experience as an Automation Engineer within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector in a regulated GMP environment.
Proven expertise with
Emerson DeltaV (S88 model)
and/or strong background in
PLC and SCADA systems integration
.
Strong documentation and specification writing skills, with high attention to detail.
Experience in automation compliance lifecycle, change management, and plant commissioning.
Excellent teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to influence across disciplines.
Familiarity with ISA95, ISA88, CFR Part 11, and EU Annex 11 compliance frameworks.
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clarity and direction in project settings.
