Job Description
The Care Assistant works as a member of a team delivering care to the residents of Ennis Road Care Facility.
Responsibilities
* Support the nursing staff and team in delivering quality, person-centred care to meet the needs of residents.
* Get to know residents' interests and needs, providing attention, support and companionship.
* Promote the mobility of residents, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possible.
* Enable and assist residents to maintain their personal appearance/hygiene while maintaining dignity.
* Assist residents to eat and drink and achieve physical comfort.
* Participate in, organise and carry out social activities.
* Sustain high-level communication between residents' families and staff, developing good relationships.
* Assist in maintaining high standards of cleanliness within the home.
* Contribute to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the home.
* Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the Nurse in Charge and management.
Qualifications & Skills
* FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare (relevant modules).
* Experience working in a healthcare environment with knowledge of HIQA standards (preferable).
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
* Ability to maintain a positive approach in a sometimes challenging environment.
* Good command of the English language.
* Sector: Human Health and Social Work activities.

* Minimum Experience Required: 2 years.

* Problem Solving, Teamwork, Time Management, Working on Own Initiative.
* Specialising in care of the elderly, QQI Level 5.
* Languages: English (A2-Elementary).
