Optical Tooling Technician

We are searching for the best talent for an Optical Tooling Technician role to be in Limerick, Ireland.
As part of the Tool Room Team, this role will produce machined parts using CNC Diamond Point Lathe to tolerances greater than 0.002µm. This includes but not limited to, CNC setting up, and operation; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records and general equipment maintenance activities.
This role will suit someone from a Tooling / Toolmaker background as full training will be provided based in the Optical Toolroom, this role involves responsibility and activities as outlined.
Roles and Responsibilities
Planning machining through work order Schedules, blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances as appropriate to produce multiple types of tooling inserts.
Ensuring appropriate machine programs are loaded and requirements are met by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation etc. including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry where necessary.
Optical Tooling Equipment set up by installing and adjusting appropriate tools, attachments, collets, and bushings that may be necessary to successfully complete the schedule
Verifying settings by measuring positions, first-run part verification, and sample workpieces while adhering to procedures and required standards.
Visual inspection of key quality indicators, using appropriate Metrology
Maintaining safe operation of equipment by adhering to J&J safety procedures and regulations.
Ensuring equipment maintenance by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs.
Documenting actions and quality requirements as appropriate for quality compliance
How to Succeed
A QQI Level 6 in a Technical or Trade level qualification or related discipline
Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience post apprenticeship
Familiar with CNC Lathe equipment/process and inspections
Interest, energy, and motivation to work in a fast-moving manufacturing environment
Experience working within a team and excellent communication skills
Experience working in the medical device environment
