Our client is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and proactive Assistant Director of Nursing to help lead their well-established nursing home in Portlaoise, Laois.
About the Role:
As Assistant Director of Nursing, you'll work closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure the delivery of exceptional care in line with regulatory standards and the organisation's values. This is a key leadership role for a nurse who thrives in a people-first, resident-focused setting.
You'll support clinical oversight, mentor staff, promote continuous improvement, and ensure every resident feels safe, respected, and cared for.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Support the Director of Nursing in the daily and strategic management of the home
2. Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and all relevant legislation
3. Promote a resident-first culture through the development of individualised care plans
4. Provide clinical guidance and mentoring to nursing and care teams
5. Contribute to recruitment, induction, supervision, and performance management
6. Champion a warm, inclusive environment that prioritises dignity, safety, and independence
7. Drive continuous quality improvement and support internal and external audits
8. Liaise with residents, families, GPs, and allied health professionals
9. Assist with scheduling, risk management, and clinical governance
Your Team:
10. Director of Nursing providing strong mentorship
11. Experienced clinical and care team with positive morale

Essential Criteria:
14. NMBI-registered nurse (RGN, RPN or RNID)
15. Minimum 6 years post-registration nursing experience
16. At least 3 years in a senior or supervisory clinical role
17. Strong working knowledge of HIQA regulations and elder care best practices
18. Proven leadership, decision-making, and organisational skills
19. Excellent communication and team motivation abilities
20. Passion for delivering resident-focused, high-quality care
