Job Title:
Medical Director
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director to lead our occupational health department in Dublin. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create an overall framework to monitor the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care provided under the remit of the department
2. Manage the fitness for work of employees, particularly those in safety-critical positions
3. Administer welfare services to employees
4. Set medical standards of fitness to work for all positions within the organization, with emphasis on safety-critical positions
5. Manage primary general practitioner services for employees and their families
6. Interpret drug and alcohol testing programmes as a medical review officer
7. Support safety management systems
8. Advise management on employee health and safety compliance
9. Administer health promotion to employees via the health promotion unit
10. Liaise with national and international organizations to ensure occupational health standards comply with best norms
11. Provide specialist advice on employee ill health retirement
12. Engage with occupational medicine professionals for training
13. Promote medical standards for safety-critical work among the medical community
14. Ensure health, safety, and welfare compliance by employees according to company safety operating standards and external legislative requirements
15. Understand business operations and ensure health, safety, and welfare practices comply with best international standards
Requirements:
* Hold a primary qualification in medicine from a recognized medical school/university
* Be a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners or Royal College of Physicians Ireland
* Be a member of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Royal College of Physicians Ireland
* Be on the Specialist Register of the Medical Council of Ireland in Occupational Medicine
* Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians Ireland
* Experience in and knowledge of occupational health & safety legislation
