MEDICAL SECRETARY
A well-established and busy medical practice based in Oranmore is seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to join their close-knit team.
With a collaborative environment consisting of doctors, nurses, and administrative staff, this role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
This is a part-time, permanent opportunity offering stability and the chance to contribute meaningfully within a patient-focused healthcare setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, follow-ups, reminders, and communicating any changes
Handle patient inquiries via phone, email, and in person in a professional and compassionate manner
Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility
Coordinate and process medical referrals, ensuring all documentation is completed and forwarded appropriately
Support patient billing and invoicing, ensuring accuracy and timely submission
Oversee day-to-day office operations, including filing, phone handling, and general administration
REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience in a medical secretary or similar administrative role within a healthcare environment
Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to handle sensitive patient information with strict confidentiality and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy medical environment
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare processes is highly desirable
