Responsibilities
* Motivate, support, and encourage service users to engage in planned activities of their choice.
* Support the care of the service user, such as personal care and providing a general overview of their daily needs.
* Support and promote independence and community integration in line with New Directions (HSE, 2012).
* Educate yourself about each service user, listen to them, and use reflective practice to develop your skills and knowledge.
* Participate in a key worker role, with guidance from a senior staff member.
* Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and taking ownership of your workload. Attend regular team meetings and engage in supervisions with PIC/Deputy Manager/SCL.
* Uphold confidentiality in accordance with GDPR.
* Manage and administer medication following the medication policy.
* Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, families, and other relevant persons regarding the service user.
* Observe and report on health and safety matters.
* Contribute to Person-Centred Planning meetings and follow up on actions and outcomes.
* Ensure service users receive support in their daily lives and make appropriate choices.
* Report concerns regarding welfare, safety, and health.
* Record accurately in line with National Standards and New Directions.
* Support service users in managing behaviours of concern using positive behaviour support plans tailored to each individual.
* Maintain high-quality service by adhering to audits and following up on actions.
* Follow financial procedures, report discrepancies.
* Build positive relationships with families, relevant persons, and colleagues to ensure effective service delivery.
* Create opportunities for community involvement, volunteering, employment, and education.
* Attend mandatory and developmental training, participate in supervision and appraisals, and reflect on practice.
* Undertake other duties within the scope of the Support Worker role as needed.
Qualifications
* Full Driver's Licence with at least two years' experience.
* Currently undertaking or holding a CORU-recognised Social Care Qualification.
