Technical Engineer - Field Based - Vehicle provided
Job Purpose:
Enhance the company's success by delivering front-line technical support on systems to partners across the UK and Ireland. Contribute to business growth and sales targets by providing practical support on fabrication and installation best practices for all products, including aluminium & steel systems, digital solutions, and project applications.
Work closely with technical services, product management, training, engineering, sales, and specification teams to provide market-leading technical support, acting as -Subject Matter Experts- and supporting partner training on company systems.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the Team Leader to schedule site visits, prioritising based on urgency and location. Manage the booking system to ensure all visits are coordinated and confirmed.
2. Maintain accurate records of site visits, reports, and customer interactions.
3. Perform site inspections of installed systems to identify and troubleshoot non-conformities, delivering detailed reports with findings, root causes, and recommendations.
4. Conduct factory surveys for customers, providing recommendations on tooling and equipment.
5. Investigate project or fabrication complaints, preparing reports with findings and solutions.
6. Support the UK training department in providing training and hands-on support to partners and colleagues, following system-specific guidelines.
7. Assist in producing test samples for systems, including on-site installation and glazing, overseeing tests and documenting requirements.
8. Act as the main contact for partners during on-site visits, offering professional advice and fostering relationships.
9. Perform risk assessments and promote health and safety best practices during activities.
Essential Skills:
* Proven industry experience, including site installation or fabrication.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Effective teamwork skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in manufacturing and installation of products.
* Knowledge of design principles.
* Engineering qualification.
* Experience with CNC machines for aluminium production.
Supporting Information:
* Role requires UK and European travel, with overnight stays at short notice.
* Must have a valid UK driving license.
* Right to work in the UK.
