Overview
Senior Manager – Projects Program Management at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) in Ireland will lead a portfolio of capital and operational projects focusing on safety and GMP compliance across manufacturing sites.
The role reports to the Associate Director of Engineering and involves managing a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in adherence to BMS stage-gate processes.
Key Responsibilities
Accountable for managing a team of Project Managers to successfully deliver a portfolio of projects onsite.
Ensure strict adherence to BMS project stage-gate principles for managing the life-cycle of projects.
Deliver key project milestones for safety, financial management, schedule management and scope management.
Maintain compliance with good engineering practices, company policies, regulations and codes.
Liaise with Global Engineering, Global EHS, Global Procurement to align project deliverables.
Apply recognised project-management techniques, develop concept and business cases with sponsors.
Develop capital budgets, obtain approvals, negotiate with contractors and suppliers, manage cash flow and life-cycle costs.
Design solutions in compliance with local and corporate safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Use planning tools to keep complex projects on schedule and coordinate activities across facilities, EHS, QA, etc.
Implement value-engineering and constructability reviews to minimise capital expenditures.
Identify and mitigate risks, generate action plans, and assess impact on business.
Generate detailed project execution plans and procure specifications for equipment and instrumentation.
Innovate and seek novel approaches for design, function and construction using operational excellence tools.
Coordinate construction management, startup and commissioning of equipment and systems, including validation support.
Complete project close-out according to the stage-gate process.
Qualifications and Skills
An honours degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Process Engineering, and relevant pharmaceutical industry experience.
Minimum of 8 years' experience in project management on a manufacturing site, with at least one capital project exceeding €5million through an engineering stage-gate process.
Demonstrated record of managing diverse engineering teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and safely.
Strong background in planning, scheduling and managing engineering projects with proven on-time performance.
Experience with overall financial performance of projects, including cash flow, life-cycle costs, opportunities and risks.
Familiarity with project life-cycle stage-gate processes and project-management methodologies.
Experience dealing with external regulators such as local planning boards and construction inspectors.
Proven leadership of multidisciplinary cross-functional teams.
Ability to design complex projects in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on safe operation and environmental standards.
Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
Experience with SAP and budgeting tools.
Portfolio Management Professional (PMP) certification or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred.
Experience in biologic manufacturing sites highly valued.
