We are seeking a motivated and reliable General Operative / Groundworker to join our team. This role involves supporting a wide range of civil engineering projects within the water sector, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards. Previous experience in water-related works would be an advantage.
Skills & Qualifications
· Valid CSCS card and relevant machinery/tool operation training (essential).
· Valid Safe Pass and Manual handling
· Full, clean driving licence (desirable).
· Ability to read and interpret service drawings.
· Experience with traffic management and control systems.
· Training/experience in abrasive wheels, SLG, and LUGS (advantageous).
· Strong attention to detail with a focus on health and safety.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities
· Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance: Carry out regular checks and ensure the company van and on-site machinery are kept in safe working condition.
· Training Compliance: Keep training records and certifications (e.g., CSCS) valid and available on request.
· Transportation: Drive to and from site locations as required.
· Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors and crew leaders to complete tasks to specification.
· Health & Safety: Always wear PPE correctly and comply with all safety procedures.
· Site Documentation: Complete required site paperwork and maintain accurate records.
· Service Drawings: Read and interpret service drawings to ensure compliance with design and safety requirements.
· Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate effectively with premises managers, pedestrians, and other parties to minimise disruption.
· Traffic Management: Assist in setting up and maintaining traffic management systems.
· Work Records: Take photographs before, during, and after works for documentation and compliance.
· Tool & Machinery Use: Safely operate hand tools and on-site machinery in line with training and certification.
· Service Location: Use LUGS equipment to mark and locate underground services.
· Site Standards: Keep the worksite clean, safe, and organised at all times.
· Materials Handling: Collect and deliver materials to and from site as required.
· Specialist Tasks: Support with abrasive wheels and SLG tasks where trained.
Working Conditions
This is an outdoor role requiring work in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, extreme cold, and heat. You must be prepared and equipped to work safely and productively in varying conditions.
