The responsibilities of the Chair are as follows:
The Chairperson has a strategic role to play by communicating effectively the vision and purpose of the organisation, to ensure the Board functions well, that there is full participation at meetings.
To plan and Chair meetings in accordance with the governing documents
To liaise with the CEO and to keep up to date on the affairs of the organisation
To ensure that decisions made at meetings are implemented
To be aware of current issues that might affect the organisation
To advocate for and represent the organisation at external meetings and events if required
Oversight: Monitor adherence to national and local regulations, ensuring the organisation remains in good standing with all governing bodies.
Policy Development: Lead the review and enhancement of internal policies, bylaws, and ethical frameworks to mitigate institutional risk.
Audit & Risk Management (non financial based risk): Oversee internal audits and risk assessment processes, providing critical feedback on financial and operational transparency.
Strategic Guidance: Advise the Board on best practices in non-profit governance, ensuring that board culture remains accountable and mission-driven.
The ideal candidate possesses a background in Law, Corporate Governance, or Risk Management. You should be a "big picture" thinker who doesn't mind diving into the details of a compliance report. We value candidates who bring:
Experience in highly regulated sectors.

Strong analytical skills and the courage to provide independent, candid oversight.
Good leadership skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to ensure decisions are taken and followed-up

Understanding of the roles/responsibilities of a governing body
Board Meetings: There will be quarterly board meetings and 2 sub-committee meetings a year. Meetings are held online.
