Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Data Center MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing), the Data Center Mechanical Specialist will play a key role in the detailed design, and construction administration phases of data centre projects.
The position requires close collaboration with both internal ZeroOne teams and external partners to develop and deliver design solutions that meet company standards as well as regional and project-specific requirements.
Principal Duties
As Data Centre Mechanical Specialist, the successful candidate will:
* Lead technical designs internally with MEP Teams, and collaborate externally with multi discipline teams including architects, engineers, specialist consultants, and key business partners.
* Provide expert input based on a strong understanding of data centre mechanical design, operations, and control systems.
* Manage:
* The mechanical and plumbing design packages for Data Centre Projects, expansions, upgrades, Retrofits.
* Design reviews, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and best practices to achieve optimal outcomes.
* Coordination with Client teams, including leading design workshops to ensure adherence to the Design Blueprint.
* The mechanical design process, ensuring delivery of complete data centre design solutions within defined scope, schedule, and budget.
* Responses to client queries, the development of project-specific design solutions, and alignment with internal engineering and external design teams across both new and existing data centres.
Essential Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
* Chartered or Professional Engineer status, with a minimum of 10 years' experience on major projects and strong knowledge of operational environments.
* Proven expertise in cooling systems and related mechanical infrastructure (including HVAC, liquid cooling, evaporative systems, and associated controls).
* Demonstrated ability to lead advanced engineering teams and operational workflows in large-scale data centre environments.
* Strong project management capability with experience delivering multiple critical infrastructure projects simultaneously.
* Familiarity with both Design & Construct (D&C) and Design Bid Build (DBB) procurement models.
* Working knowledge of construction methods and terminology, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
* Excellent leadership skills, with a collaborative approach and ability to work effectively across functions.
* Experience managing internal teams as well as third-party vendors, with strong performance monitoring skills.
* Outstanding communication and presentation skills across all levels of the business.
* Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving ability.
* Flexibility to undertake domestic and international travel.
Desirable Qualifications
* Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
