Role Purpose:
The Vascular Department in Blackrock Clinic offers a wide range of non-invasive vascular diagnostic investigations. The successful candidate will be in integral member of the multi-disciplinary vascular team, working closely with 3 Consultant Vascular surgeons.
The post holder will be expected to provide a full range of vascular examinations, both as part of a team and independently.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent.
* Or possess Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology or its equivalent
* Membership of the College and Society for Clinical Vascular Science or equivalent society.
* Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years satisfactory relevant post qualification experience.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment, Planning, Implementation & Evaluation:
* At all-times treating the patient with dignity and respect, while exercising discretion and maintaining their confidentiality.
* To perform and interpret the following: Carotid Ultrasound, Venous, Lower Limb Arterial, Upper limb Venous, Upper limb Arterial, Graft Scanning, pseudo aneurysm scanning, Segmental Pressures and Ankle/Brachial Index. Laser vein guidance an advantage.
* To be responsible for accurate storing of reports generated from the above tests.
* Keep accurate documentation of these procedures.
* To ensure that all records are properly and accurately maintained.
* To be professionally responsible for all aspects of the post holder's own work.
* Participate in the teaching, training and supervision of new or junior staff and students.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and guidelines.
* Maintaining the department environment to promote good infection control and health and safety at work.
* Providing comfort, reassurance and support to patients in times of high anxiety or distress.
* Function effectively in an emergency situation.
* Adapt to changing workloads.
* Participating in discussion about patient care and ward/departmental development including handover and team meetings.
* Demonstrating an understanding of the importance of accurate documentation and contributing towards recording daily reports of patient activity and progress.
* Know and practice within legal requirements including those set down by the Society of Vascular Technicians of Great Britain and Ireland.
* Report any malfunction or defects in equipment relevant to the person.
* Support the Head of Department in the implementation of initiatives aimed at improving and developing the service of the Vascular Department.
* Listening to and being able to accept constructive feedback.
* Undertake when necessary administrative and clerical duties to facilitate the smooth running of the department.

* Infection Control including disposal of waste, sharps and infected linen

* Hospital Fire Policy and evacuation

* Report all incidents immediately, which may adversely affect a patient, colleague or Blackrock Clinic.
* Communications clearly and appropriately with patients, their relatives/friends, colleagues and all members of the MDT team including responding to queries answering the phone, taking messages and passing on written and verbal information to patients.

* Is always punctual when on duty.
* Accept responsibility for "Acting Up" in specific instances, as assigned.
