A dynamic and growing mid-tier commercial practice in Dublin is seeking an ambitious and highly accomplished Banking & Finance Partner to join their busy and expanding Finance team.
The successful candidate will be pivotal in leading sophisticated financing mandates, driving key business development initiatives across the Irish market, and mentoring junior solicitors. This role is ideal for an existing partner or a senior lawyer seeking a platform that offers direct impact, a clear path to equity, and the opportunity to shape the future of the department, focusing on both domestic lending and international financing structures into Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership & Execution Lead and manage a diverse range of complex banking and finance transactions, leveraging expertise relevant to the Irish market:
Corporate Lending: Secured and unsecured bilateral and syndicated lending.
Real Estate Finance: Development and investment financing across commercial and residential sectors.
Acquisition Finance: Supporting M&A and Private Equity-led transactions.
Debt Restructuring: Advising on workouts, security enforcement, and corporate recovery.
Regulatory Advisory: Providing guidance on Irish financial services regulation and Central Bank of Ireland compliance.
Oversee and draft all necessary loan documentation, security suites, and legal opinions, ensuring commercial efficacy under Irish jurisdiction.
Business Development & Client Management
Possess a portable client base or a verifiable track record of significant business generation and a clear strategy for future growth within the Irish financial sector.
Actively drive the firm’s Finance Department's growth through targeted business development, attending industry events in Dublin, and leveraging professional networks (e.g., pillar banks, alternative lenders, and debt funds).
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, particularly domestic lenders, international financial institutions, and corporate borrowers.
Supervise, train, and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals within the Banking team, ensuring their technical development in Irish finance law.
Contribute to the firm's strategic planning and management as a key member of the partnership.
Qualifications
Qualified Solicitor in Ireland (or equivalent with an Irish practicing certificate and significant Irish law experience).
A minimum of 8+ years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) specializing in Banking & Finance law, ideally gained within a reputable private practice setting in Dublin or a leading international firm.
Technical Skills & Experience
Demonstrable expertise in managing complex debt transactions, with proven knowledge of the Irish legal and regulatory framework.
Deep understanding of security structures, intercreditor dynamics, and the Irish Companies Act 2014 as it relates to corporate borrowing.
Proven track record of high-quality legal drafting and sophisticated negotiation skills.
Established connectivity within the Dublin banking, private equity, and professional services community.
