Job Summary
The Construction General Operative will support daily operations on residential housing and commercial construction sites. The role involves general labouring duties, assisting skilled trades, and maintaining a safe, clean, and productive site in line with Irish health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting trades on residential housing developments and commercial builds
Handling, loading, and unloading construction materials and site deliveries
Preparing work areas, including setting up barriers, signage, and equipment
Mixing and handling materials such as concrete, mortar, and adhesives
Carrying out general labouring and basic construction tasks as directed
Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the site at all times
Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety Authority (HSA) regulations
Following site-specific method statements and risk assessments
Operating hand and power tools where trained and authorised
Supporting site logistics, waste segregation, and housekeeping
Reporting hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions to site management
Requirements & Qualifications
Valid Safe Pass (essential)
Manual Handling Certificate (essential)
CSCS card (an advantage, depending on duties)
Experience On Residential And/or Commercial Construction Sites Preferred
Strong awareness of site health and safety procedures
Physically fit and capable of manual work
Ability to work well as part of a team
Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
Working Conditions
Work across residential housing estates and commercial developments
Indoor and outdoor site work in varying weather conditions
Physically demanding role involving lifting, standing, and repetitive tasks
Standard site hours with potential overtime
