The role
Position Overview
Remediation Engineer (Climate Change Design Manager) – Dundalk Marine Terminal. The role reports directly to the MPA Deputy Director of the Office of Environment, Safety, and Sustainability (OESS).
Responsibilities
Oversee multiple concurrent engineering projects, ensuring delivery within established scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
Lead multidisciplinary teams in site‑wide remediation, civil/site design, storm water management, seal‑level rise resiliency, emission reduction controls, and infrastructure and energy efficiency.
Identify, establish, and resolve engineering and technical design criteria for complex climate resilience, energy efficiency, and emission reduction projects.
Manage an engineering team that develops Agency‑wide solutions for the Climate Solutions Now Act 2022, including emission reduction, energy consumption reduction, and alternative fuel options.
Qualifications
Must possess a Maryland Professional Engineer license in the appropriate discipline; evidence of license required at appointment.
At least one (1) year of experience managing engineering projects as a licensed professional engineer.
Registration requirements as established under Title 14 of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
May be required to obtain a special security badge for assignment to sensitive locations.
Licenses & Certifications
Motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland for duties that require vehicle operation.
Professional Engineer license accepted from a state with comparable requirements; must obtain Maryland license within twelve (12) months of appointment.
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required for unescorted access to MDOT/MPA facilities.
Special Requirements
May be subject to 24‑hour emergency recall and must maintain a reliable telephone communication link.
