Environmental Science and EIA Consultancy Role
Hays Recruitment is assisting a leading Engineering Consultancy based in Cork in finding a Principal Environmental Scientist/EIA Consultant.
About the Opportunity
This consultancy role is based within our Cork office. As a Principal Environmental Scientist/EIA Consultant, you will work closely with engineers, environmental scientists, and other staff members on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.
* Project management: Ensure timely delivery of projects to high technical standards.
* Liaison: Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, regulators, subcontractors, and internal disciplines.
* Proposal development: Contribute to bids for multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
* Team management: Lead project teams effectively.
* Technical support: Provide expertise and guidance to junior team members across Ireland and the UK.
Key Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
* A degree in a relevant science or environmental engineering field (e.g., environmental science, sustainability, air and climate, noise, geology, hydrogeology).
* A Master's qualification in a relevant specialism is preferred but not essential.
* Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body.
* Relevant post-graduate experience in a consultancy environment, particularly in EIAR and non-statutory environmental reports preparation and coordination.
* An excellent understanding of planning and environmental legislation, technical guidance, and industry standards/best practice, especially for EIARs.
* A proven track record in technical report writing and completing reports to best practice standards.
* Experience in managing major environmental projects and developing bids.
* Sustainability and carbon management experience for projects is preferred but not essential.
* Experience in providing technical support and mentoring as part of a team; renewable energy projects experience on shore and off shore (preferred but not essential).
