Power Plant Operations Technician
GE Vernova is looking for an exceptional Power Plant Operations Technician to join our Field Services team based in the Shannonbridge, Ireland
Let’s Talk about the Role
The Plant Operations Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the power station, ensuring reliable performance, rapid response to grid demands, and appropriate action during emergencies.
This role exists to maintain the continuous and dependable operation of the power station by overseeing turbine systems and all Balance of Plant equipment, carrying out frontline maintenance, and supporting the controlled release of plant for scheduled work. Operating across the field, Permit Office and Central Control Room, the Operations Technician ensures that all activities meet contractual obligations and grid requirements while upholding strict safety standards. The position plays a key part in identifying issues early, responding to abnormal conditions, and coordinating effectively with the Team Leader and maintenance teams to keep the station running smoothly and safely.
Your Impact
Operate critical control systems — Maintain safe, efficient plant performance by operating and monitoring the DCS, HMI, CEMS and all station control systems.
Ensure regulatory and procedural compliance - Uphold all Quality, EHS and operational procedures to keep the station fully compliant and risk‑free.
Respond to operational variances - Detect abnormal conditions, take corrective action from the control room or field, and keep the plant within PPA and grid requirements.
Conduct field monitoring and frontline maintenance - Perform routine rounds, support equipment upkeep, and assist with testing to maintain plant reliability.
Coordinate with grid and station leadership - Follow dispatch instructions, report issues to the Shift Supervisor, and maintain accurate logs, schedules and operational data.
Support safe maintenance access - Once trained, assist with LOTO and plant release for maintenance to ensure safe work execution.
Identify and report hazards - Proactively raise unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies and operational risks to protect people and assets.
Special Role Requirements
12‑hour shifts - Willing to work holidays, weekends and nights as required by the shift pattern.

Technician with the capability to operate complex systems - capable of managing DCS, HMI and other control systems while supporting safe field operations.
Person with an understanding of power‑plant processes - understanding how turbines, Balance of Plant equipment and grid requirements interact to ensure stable generation.
Operator with expertise in safe work practices - expertise in EHS procedures, hazard identification, and (once trained) LOTO and permit‑to‑work processes.
Team member with a keen interest in continuous learning - a keen interest in developing technical skills, improving plant performance and contributing positively to a collaborative shift team.
Communicator who builds strong working relationships - able to communicate clearly, openly and constructively with colleagues, supervisors and grid operators.
Organised and detail‑focused contributor - attentive to data accuracy, routine completion and procedural compliance in a high‑responsibility environment.
