Senior Quantity Surveyor

GP JOULE is a newly established and growing team focused on the engineering, procurement and construction of utility‑scale solar PV projects and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). We’re building the energy system of the future by harnessing power from the sun and wind, enabling CO₂‑free mobility and developing smart storage and usage solutions.
The Role
We’re looking for a senior, commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to help drive the success of GP Joule EPC Ireland’s growing operations. Reporting to the Country Manager, you’ll play a central role in delivering utility‑scale Solar PV and BESS projects, taking ownership of procurement strategies, managing key subcontractor packages, and providing critical commercial insight.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to commercial success across the full project lifecycle, including cost planning, budget forecasting, interim and final account preparation, and ensuring contract provisions such as notifications are effectively administered.
* Manage valuations, payments, and subcontractor relationships, including preparing applications for payment, certifying subcontractor payments, managing variations, and collaboratively negotiating final accounts.
* Take a leading role in subcontractor and supplier procurement, including developing BOQs and tender documentation, issuing subcontracts, and supporting the Country Manager in responding to RFTs with a focus on teamwork and shared goals.
* Collaborate with GP Joule’s German procurement team to support strategic sourcing and ensure alignment with group‑wide procurement strategies and contractual standards.
* Ensure contract and compliance excellence, including preparing and managing documentation, upholding health & safety and specification standards, and maintaining accurate records in line with company policy.
* Foster strong communication and team development, producing clear commercial reports, engaging with stakeholders, and mentoring junior colleagues to support their growth and success.
Requirements
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
* 4+ years of post‑graduate experience in quantity surveying, ideally with exposure to civil, electrical, or renewable energy projects.
* Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial management, with working knowledge of standard forms of contract including FIDIC and NEC as well as familiarity with methods of measurement, particularly ARM and CESMM.
* Experience in preparing BOQs, tender documentation, and managing subcontractor procurement and contract negotiations.
* Proficiency in QS software and MS Office; ability to interpret technical drawings and contribute to collaborative planning.
* A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across teams and with external partners.
* Chartered status or actively working towards chartership with SCSI (or RICS).
