This is a part-time position, 4 days per week.
Candidates should be available to work 4 days over a 7 day week.
The position offers attractive daytime hours.
THE IRISH HERITAGE TRUST WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO: Established in 2006, The Irish Heritage Trust CLG (IHT) is an independent not-for-profit which cares for, protects and brings to life a variety of historic houses, gardens and parklands in Ireland, in a financially sustainable manner, while developing innovative visitor experiences at these beautiful places: Fota House & Gardens (Cork); Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum & Gardens (Wexford); and Strokestown Park House & Gardens (Roscommon).
Strokestown Park is a unique visitor attraction which comprises of Strokestown Park House one of the best-preserved Georgian Mansions in Ireland, The National Famine Museum telling the story of The Great Irish Famine, Walled Gardens, Woodlands, Café and Gift Shop.
In 2021 the Irish Heritage Trust embarked on a large-scale redevelopment and conservation project of Strokestown Park House & Gardens which was completed in Summer 2022.
Our audience includes local, domestic and international visitors made up of families, large tour groups, VIP Tours, school groups and members.
The Woodland café is a key part of this new attraction.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: Working closely with the General Manage and Café Team, the Café Supervisor will be instrumental in the development of the café, as well as responsible for the smooth running of its day-to-day operations.
The successful candidate will lead and motivate the café team to deliver outstanding levels of service and an excellent food offering.
JOB SUMMARY: Ensure a fast, friendly, and excellent level of customer service in the café in order to enhance the overall visitor experience at Strokestown Park House and Gardens.
Plan, develop and implement an efficient work schedule for the café team in order to ensure job rotation and flexibility of all staff & inline with forecasted visitor numbers.
Working with the Catering Assistant to ensure a high standard of food supply and display in the café considering sustainability, locally sourced produce and the circular economy.
Working with the Catering Assistant review and agree all supplier orders required for the week (in line with forecasted visitor numbers).
Provide leadership, motivation and manage individual and overall team performance by setting clear goals and objectives.
Provide ongoing supervision of all service, presentation and dining areas.
Actively promote the café as a destination café under the guidance of the IHT Marketing & Communications Team.
Work closely with the Visitor Services & Events Teams to plan for visitor peaks and events that impact the café.
Actively seek to reduce the impact of the cafés operation on the environment, including organic and eco-friendly produce and reduction of food waste.
Develop an efficient cleaning schedule, ensuring the regular and systematic cleaning and maintenance of equipment in the kitchen area and café.
Monitor and deliver the HACCP programme while ensuring that food safety, food presentation, hygiene and quality standards are adhered to.
Undertake any practical duties which may arise in an emergency to ensure the smooth running of the café.
Deal efficiently with any problems that may arise on a daily basis and report the matter to the General Manager as necessary.
THE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a managerial or supervisory role in the catering sector.
Experienced and trained on HACCP management systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organised with a keen interest & knowledge of food, food preparation and presentation, and a strong eye for detail.
Be passionate about sustainability and be willing to upskill and collaborate in finding more sustainable solutions.
An advanced level of English is required and a professional manner is essential.
Ability to multitask, work calmly under pressure and quickly adapt to change.
