Candidate Requirements
* Applicants should have excellent communication skills, good leadership skills, and the ability to work on their own initiative.
* Experience of working with people with learning disabilities is desirable.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility, together with high levels of computer literacy, are required.
* Ability to manage in a changing and adaptable environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Relevant OT qualifications are essential and must be registered with CORU or in the process of registration.
Salary Scale
Basic Grade OT Pay Scale (Scale Range €39,663 to €57,532 per annum)

* A full driver's license is essential.
* All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks.
* Applicants from outside the E.U. must provide relevant work authorization.
* Overseas Police Clearance may be required if lived outside Ireland/Northern Ireland for >6 months since age 18.

Reports to
The successful candidate will report to the Clinical Lead, Western Care Association. Clinical supervision will be provided by a Senior Occupational Therapist within Western Care Association.
Location of Post
The Basic Grade Occupational Therapist will be based in Head Office, Western Care Association, John Moore Road, Castlebar, with a county-wide brief.
Purpose of the job
The Basic Grade Occupational Therapist is a key appointment in the delivery of effective services for adults with complex needs. They will contribute to providing a quality service and support staff to enable adults to develop and live their lives to a full potential.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
The Basic Grade Occupational Therapist will work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team to provide Occupational Therapy Services to meet the needs of adults with complex needs.
The Occupational Therapist Will:
* Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and review of treatment/intervention programs according to Western Care Association standards.
* Manage own caseload based on the needs of the post.
* Collaborate with individuals, families, carers, and staff in treatment planning.
* Work with interdisciplinary teams to address holistic needs.
* Plan discharge or transition of individuals between services as appropriate.
* Document all assessments, plans, progress notes, reports, and summaries per policies and standards.
* Communicate assessment results, treatment plans, and recommendations verbally and in writing.
* As a mandated person under the Children First Act 2015, report child protection concerns accordingly.
Education and Training
* Participate in mandatory training and CPD including conferences and courses.
* Engage in supervision and performance review.
* Contribute to training and supervision of students and staff.
* Must be registered with CORU or in the process of registration.
Working Relationships And Communication
* Follow local and organizational procedures and directives.
* Develop good working relationships within the organization.
* Report issues and difficulties to line manager.
* Maintain confidentiality and participate in meetings and supervision.
