Safety and Compliance Officer
We are seeking a qualified professional to assume the role of Safety and Compliance Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adherence to safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a safe working environment.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and risks
* Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements
* Prepare risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) to mitigate potential dangers
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
* Train workers on safety protocols and proper equipment use to ensure a culture of safety awareness
* Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and provide guidance on its proper use
* Liaise with site managers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and collaboration
* Keep accurate records of inspections, incidents, and safety reports to inform decision-making
* Advise on best practices for site safety management to promote a proactive approach to safety
Requirements:
* A Level 7 Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety is an essential minimum requirement for this role
* No less than 3 years satisfactory experience of construction work and knowledge of construction methods, site management, and construction design process
* Experience on river / flood defence works would be highly advantageous
* A valid SafePass Card is required for this position
* A current driving licence and use of own transport may be necessary for site visits
