As M&E Quantity Surveyor you will join our commercial team and provide expertise across mechanical and electrical elements of major projects. Working within a Tier 1 construction environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs, contracts and commercial reporting while ensuring value is delivered at every stage. This is a key role supporting project delivery and client satisfaction on complex, large-scale projects.
Responsibilities
1. Provide cost management, measurement and valuation of M&E packages throughout project lifecycles
2. Prepare, review and negotiate contracts and subcontracts for M&E works
3. Monitor project budgets, forecasts and cash flow to ensure financial control
4. Assess and process interim valuations, variations, final accounts and claims
5. Liaise with project managers, design teams and subcontractors to ensure commercial objectives are met
6. Support procurement strategies for M&E subcontractors and suppliers
7. Maintain accurate records, reports and cost analyses for internal and client reporting
8. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies and relevant legislation
9. Contribute to risk management processes and identify opportunities for cost savings
10. Collaborate with wider project teams to support successful delivery of quality, safety and programme outcomes
Experience
11. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on mechanical and electrical packages
12. Strong commercial knowledge of contracts, procurement and cost management within construction
13. Experience on large-scale projects in sectors such as commercial, infrastructure, life sciences, technology or data centres is desirable
14. Familiarity with M&E systems, drawings and technical specifications
15. Track record of managing subcontractors and suppliers effectively
16. Excellent numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills
17. Ability to manage workload across multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
18. Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related field
19. Chartered status (RICS or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
20. Strong IT skills with proficiency in cost management software, Excel and reporting systems
21. Knowledge of construction contracts such as NEC and JCT
22. Ongoing professional development in M&E or construction commercial management will be supported
