JOB SUMMARY
Materials SME is responsible for driving standard work and continuous improvement in processes, systems, and material functional talent development. This role requires being a technical expert in processes and systems in Inventory Control, as well as a qualified project leader capable of working with the operations team to implement improvements that provide best-in-class service levels, target profitability, and differentiated capabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead as Subject Matter Expert in Inventory Control processes.
2. Lead as Subject Matter Expert in one or multiple standardized Materials systems and applications.
3. Coach, mentor, and provide training to the materials team, fostering a learning environment.
4. Monitor key Materials metrics for the plant.
5. Support and maintain all lower-level materials team duties and responsibilities.
6. Have the authority to initiate audits to ensure proper use of Materials systems, tools, and procedures by local teams.
7. Drive standardization, simplification, and optimization through continuous improvement cycles in materials processes and systems.
8. Develop new materials best practices supported by data to regional and global teams to optimize existing practices.
9. Engage in seminars, conferences, and professional organizations to stay updated on industry-leading technology supporting Jabil's business.
10. Lead and critically evaluate cross-functional projects to optimize large-scale projects outside of materials scope.
11. Support global materials systems review, selection, retirement, or development processes to achieve standardization.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
1. Collaborate with stakeholders to define project framework and goals.
2. Prioritize improvement projects to enhance existing processes and systems.
3. Map current ('as is') processes and brainstorm with stakeholders and system solution teams for future ('to be') processes.
4. Lead project team in documenting business requirements.
5. Define KPIs and manage projects within scope, quality, time, and budget constraints.
6. Work with stakeholders and IT teams to develop test plans with relevant scenarios.
7. Assess project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
8. Manage stakeholder communication and escalate issues when necessary.
9. Forecast project budgets and staffing needs.
10. Track progress and provide updates.
MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role does not involve direct management of employees, such as hiring, termination, or performance management.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Requirements
* Understanding of Materials standards, procedures, systems, and methodologies.
* Knowledge of relevant systems and technology.
* Understanding of JOS, Quality Systems, and their connection to materials processes.
* Proven success in change management, continuous improvement, and cost reduction.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicts.
* Advanced PC skills, including Jabil software.
* Proficient in verbal and written English.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety standards.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, and Project.
Education & Experience
* Minimum 15 years of experience, with at least 7 in a Materials field.
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
* Master's in Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, or MBA preferred.
* Certifications such as APCIS, PMP preferred.
* Equivalent education, training, or experience acceptable.
