Position Description The DMSO Business Operations Integrity Hub team is seeking to fill the role of Flexibility Market System (FMS) Functional Specialist.
The purpose of the role is to work directly on the implementation and delivery of the Flexibility Market System.
The Flexibility Market System (FMS) is a core enabler for ESB Networks' transition to a high-renewable, low-carbon electricity system.
It will allow ESB Networks to manage, dispatch, and settle flexibility from Distributed Energy Resources (DER)-including demand response, storage, and distributed generation-to support system security, manage network constraints, and defer traditional reinforcement.
The FMS will underpin the achievement of Ireland's Climate Action Plan targets by enabling 15-20% flexibility and associated carbon abatement, improving customer outcomes, and enhancing operational resilience across planning, real-time, and restoration horizons.
The Flexibility Market System Functional Specialist will be part of the Business Operations Integrity Hub team reporting to the FMS Delivery Lead.
Primarily, the role will support the implementation of the Flexibility Market System from Design phase to Go-Live; the role will also continue as subject matter expert through the Hypercare period to actively support DMSO with future engagement with the FMS Vendor through the FMS product lifecycle and catering for new DMSO Flexibility products Key Responsibilities Participating in FMS Detailed Design workshops with FMS Vendor and Stakeholders Ensure design requirements cater for all flexibility business processes Develop functional specification documents with FMS Vendor ensuring that localised flexibility market rules and processes are catered for through the design of the solution Develop/Update required business process maps as and when neededto support FMS project Assist with integration plans with relevant systems to support flexibility market operations Support FMS Project Test Phases including System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing Support Training coordination with DMSO Stakeholders Assist with Data Migration to new FMS solution Assist with planning post-implementation vendor engagement, including service transition, SLAs, and continuous improvement.
Develop flexibility services knowledge base and understanding of flexibility market operations to support the FMS post-implementation Support FMS solution post go live during hypercare period Experience and Qualifications Essential 5+ years' relevant work experience A primarydegreein IT / Engineering / Business or related disciplineorequivalentrelevantwork experience.
Excellent interpersonal skillsand ability to work withcross functionalteams Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and governance/reporting skills.
Excellent IT Skills (MS Word, MS Excel) Understanding of IT systems Desirable Understanding and/or experience of procurement and operation of Flexibility services Experience with Flexibility platforms Understanding of the Distribution electrical grid model Experience with SAP-ISU, SAP ERP(ARM/IWM) and/or SAP SRM Experience with OT systems (NMS / GIS) Experience with MS Visio Experience with MS Office and project management/tooling (e.g., schedules, RAID, dashboards).
Location This position will be based in Finglas Smart Working at ESB is designed to make 'in-person' time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week.
