As part of this exciting development, we are currently recruiting a Full-Time Assistant Director of Nursing for Raheen Lodge and invite applications from dedicated professionals who share our commitment to excellence.
Purpose of Position
To support the Director of Nursing in the clinical and professional leadership of the care team and to deliver direct patient care in accordance with Bartra Healthcare standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
General Duties and Responsibilities
* To Ensure that the provision of a high standard of care to the Patients and their family members/representatives in is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Bartra Healthcare.
* To Promote and maintain resident safety and provide quality care through respecting the dignity, privacy and rights of the patient.
* To Ensure that their place of work is operated in a manner that respects the age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, family status, civil status, race, religious beliefs and ethnic and cultural background of each patient.
* To Develop relationships with patients in order to better facilitate patient autonomy, informed choice and evidence-based decision-making.
* To Encourage recognition of the patient as an individual; ensuring patients' rights, needs and comfort are given priority during the provision of care.
Governance and Leadership:
* To Develop and maintain competency levels necessary for professional practice.
* To Undertake the role and responsibilities of the Person-in-Charge in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards, including those relating to HIQA notification requirement and quarterly reporting.
* To Oversee the organisation and the day-to-day management of Bartra Healthcare individual location.
* To Oversee the delivery of services with all members of the multi-disciplinary teams.
* To be Involved in the development and implementation of the Bartra Healthcare Strategic and Operational Plans.
Management and Delegation Responsibilities:
* To Ensure that where directing delegation of care, the delegation is appropriate to the definitions and philosophies of nursing, taking into account the levels of experience, competence, role and scope of practice of the staff members taking on the delegated task.
* To Be accountable for roles or activities delegated to junior staff, where appropriate.
* To Be responsible for the recruitment, development and supervision of staff.
* To Facilitate the arrangements necessary and participate where appropriate, in education, training and supervision of other staff as the need arises.
* To Ensure that minimum mandatory training requirements for staff are met and updated on an ongoing basis.
Regulatory Compliance:
* To Ensure that applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, best practice and relevant codes of practice are met.
* To Ensure that all legally required certificates and licences are kept up to date and are displayed where required.
Role Requirements
Personal Hygiene and Appearance
* Polished appearance
* Professional attire
* To be familiar with and follow the standards stipulated.
* Wear minimal make-up and fragrance. No jewelry with the exception of a plain (no stones) wedding band.
* Ensure any cuts / broken skin is covered with blue, waterproof dressings.
* Ensure thorough and frequent handwashing.
Eligibility criteria/ Qualifications and/or experience
Essential Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse on the Register of Nurses held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
* Acute nursing experience for 5years
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Knowledge of audits and quality care metrics.
* IT Skills, excel experience
* Rostering experience and management of hca and staff nurses
* Management of deteriorating patient
Desirable:
* Postgrad qualification in nursing eg emergency nursing, gerontology, nursing medical /surgical
* QQI Level 6 or Higher Certificate in Management and/or Leadership
Essential Experience
* Minimum five years post graduate experience in acute sector in any area eg. medical, surgical, older persons, Ed, post op care .
Desirable Experience:
* Discharge planning and patient flow
* Experience of MDT approach to care
* People management skills
* Can coordinate the daily running of an 80-bed unit
Essential Skills Criteria:
* Prior experience with Microsoft Office and typing.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Organized and resourceful.
