About the Role
The Project Accountant will provide strategic financial leadership and support to a Programme, ensuring effective financial management aligned with programme objectives.
Working closely with senior stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and insight to support budgetary control, performance monitoring, and informed decision-making.
The Role
Lead financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure accurate tracking of programme income and expenditure
Provide financial oversight and guidance to project managers, maintaining strong cost control and accountability
Produce timely financial reports, forecasts, and variance analysis, taking action to address risks or overspend
Develop and maintain robust financial controls, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, audit, and governance requirements
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather high-quality financial data and support decision-making
Manage audits, financial systems changes, and continuous improvement of financial processes and controls
Lead and develop a team, driving performance, workforce planning, and a culture of accountability, improvement, and high-quality service delivery
The Person
Essential
Qualified accountant.
Recent experience in project or management accounting (e.g. reconciliations, capital accounting, budgeting, business cases)
Experience working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes
Strong organisational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders across departments and external organisations
Advanced IT proficiency, especially in Excel and financial/accounting systems
