The Role.
As a Water Leak Detection Technician at GMC Utilities Group, you will play a vital role in identifying, locating and reporting leaks on the public water distribution network. Working as part of GMC's Water Operations team under our Irish Water framework, you will use advanced acoustic and correlation technology to reduce water loss, improve network efficiency, and support the delivery of leakage-reduction targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out acoustic, correlation or step testing surveys of water distribution mains to identify leaks, bursts and hidden network losses.
Pinpoint exact leakage locations, report findings and liaise with network crews to schedule repair works.
Assist in pressure and flow tests to validate network performance and identify deterioration or abnormal losses.
Maintain accurate field records, update data-loggers and GIS systems with leak locations, depths and status.
Follow method statements, risk assessments and safe-system-of-work processes on site.
Support reactive call-out tasks when emergency leaks occur, including off-hours work.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards on all sites.
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:
Full driving licence (valid in ROI) and willingness to travel across sites.
Experience in water network operations, leak detection or utilities services is strongly preferred.
Ability to use leak-detection instrumentation or willingness to train.
Strong problem-solving skills, good reporting skills and accuracy in data entry.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and physically active tasks.
