Ashbourne, Ballycoolin and Damastown Manufacturing facilities with theoretical training at approved colleges/ETBs
Overview
We are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our
Electrical Apprenticeship Programme
within a
Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear Manufacturing
environment.
This apprenticeship is ideal for candidates who are committed to qualifying as electricians and who are committed to both the
practical and theoretical
aspects of the apprenticeship.
The programme combines structured on-the-job training in a manufacturing and testing environment with formal off-the-job education delivered through approved training centres and colleges.
On successful completion, apprentices will achieve the
National Craft Certificate – Electrician (QQI Level 6)
.
Key Responsibilities
As an Electrical Apprentice, you will be trained to:
Assist in the assembly and wiring of low voltage switchgear
Install electrical components including circuit breakers, busbars, relays, meters, and protection devices
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
Carry out panel wiring, termination, and labelling to specification and standards
Support testing, inspection, and fault-finding of LV switchgear assemblies
Learn commissioning and functional testing procedures under supervision
Adhere to company quality standards, electrical regulations, and health & safety requirements
Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organised work area
Attend all required theoretical training phases and complete academic assessments

Commitment to both hands-on work and classroom-based learning
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
Ability to read technical information and follow procedures
Strong awareness of health & safety and quality standards
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Motivation, reliability, and a strong desire to develop as an electrician
Primarily factory-based in a controlled manufacturing environment
Exposure to electrical assembly, testing, and quality processes
Use of hand tools, test equipment, and electrical components
Some travel may be required for college-based training phases

Applicants must meet the SOLAS apprenticeship entry requirements, including:
Leaving Certificate Mathematics (minimum pass grade required)
Minimum age as defined by SOLAS

Successful completion of aptitude tests and interview process (where applicable
